Caynabo, a major town in Somaliland, was experiencing bad water quality and the lack of properly managed water distribution systems. Genius Watter together with UNDP – United Nations Development Programme, Aptech Africa and Seccco solved the problem by providing its solar-powered reverse osmosis desalination solution ensuring safe and constant water access to the local communities.

Status Pre-Intervention
In a context of water scarcity, crop production used to be low due to the use of salty brackish water. Also, access to drinking water was difficult and costly. Genius Watter has brought clean and affordable water for agriculture and premium drinking water for the community at a very low cost. Our integrated system solves the water issue in a sustainable way, both for the environment and the society, involving on-site technical team and boosting the local economy.
